This horse is an Alter Real, the breed comes from Alter de Chao, a small town in Portugal. Real is the word for ‘royal’ in Portuguese and the Alter Real therefore the Royal breed of Alter.

They do indeed have a very majestic, noble appearance - beautiful to paint and to capture the immense strength and agility they possess.
